Separation series #11: The True Full Gospel
Are we a Full Gospel church? Not in the Charismatic sense of the term. We are full Gospel only in the sense that we preach the whole counsel of God. Acts 20:27
We preach that by grace God justifies us and declares us perfectly righteous through faith in the merits of Jesus Christ who died and rose again to pay the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:20-28 Romans 5:1 II Corinthians 5:21
We preach that at the moment of salvation God begins and eventually completes a life- long work of sanctification in our lives, conforming us to the very image of Christ. We do not achieve perfection in this life. According to I John 1:8-10, those who claim perfection deceive themselves. We are complete in Christ. Colossians 2:9-10 We need no experience with the Holy Spirit to enhance our salvation or our standing before God.
We preach that at death we stand glorified and perfect in the presence of God, clothed in the spotless righteousness of Christ. We preach that because Jesus rose bodily from the grave in a glorified, resurrection body, we too will stand one day sinlessly perfect in our glorified, resurrection bodies. I John 3:1-3
We preach that because Christ died for us, we should no longer live only for our own interests and desires; but seek to live holy, pure lives set apart for His use. II Corinthians 5:15-21. II Timothy 2:19-26
We warn of the dangers of being controlled by the flesh, by being lured by the attractions of the anti-God world-system, and by the dangers of sinful compromise with Satanic false doctrine. Acts 20:28-30, Matthew 7:15-27, Rom. 16:17-18, II Corinthians 6:14-18, Galatians 1:6-9, Ephesians 5:10-12, Colossians 2:16-23, II Timothy 3 & 4. Revelation 17 and 18:1-5 We warn of the danger of losing our first love for Jesus. Revelation 2:1-4.
We preach the Gospel Paul has laid out for us in his epistles. He warns in Galatians 1:8-9 that if anyone, even an angel from Heaven, preaches any other gospel, we are to recognize him as cursed by God. May God give us discernment to hold to the truth of God’s Word and reject as error anything we hear that does not square with His Word
