Hidden Treasures

The Bible is much more than a book of religion.

Beatitudes series: Introduction

The Beatitudes, found in Matthew 5:1-12, introduce Jesus’ famous Sermon on the Mount in chapters 5-7. The Beatitudes describe the true Christian.  The first and foremost fact about a Christian is that he is blessed beyond measure; now and throughout eternity.

If you will turn to the first Psalm and read it, again you will be impressed that the man or woman of God above everything else is blessed throughout life as well as in eternity.

The most important need for a Christian is that his life be rooted deeply in God’s Word, the Bible. He is in it day and night, reading it and meditating on it. He appreciates all that God has done for him and his one great desire in life is to know God and live for Him.

What makes you happy and satisfied? What motivates and excites you? If you are the person God wants you to be, you can rejoice with the Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” If in your heart of hearts your answer is anything but knowing Christ and living for Him and serving Him, I fear for you. You are setting yourself up for great disappointment and sorrow. The blessed life is not found searching for happiness, personal fulfillment and success; rather, we stumble over happiness on the road to serving God and seeking to live for His glory.
